Glamour Shot with Madonna the Chicken
You are probably wondering, why is there a chicken here with your photo? It's a great question and it leads into what I've been up to these days. At the beginning of the pandemic we decided to get some backyard egg-laying chickens. The first group were two Rhode Island reds and two Leghorns. Fast forward to 2024 and now we have six chickens, only one of the original four remains, and that's her here with me here in this photo that I love - Madonna.
This little flock of hens have helped me reawaken a good portion of my ecological self in the last four years. They get me outside in all weather, have taken my backyard gardening project (which is a mix of veggies and fruit + native perennials) to new heights, and keep me laughing. Madonna is my favorite chicken, she has loads of personality, and wants to live in the house with me full time, but we insist that her home is outside.
When I'm not gardening, keeping chickens, and plotting out what next year in the garden can be, I serve as an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). My current call is as the General Presbyter of the Presbytery of Southern New England where I work alongside some really fabulous and creative clergy-colleagues and local ministries.
Above all else, I am devoted deeply to my family. We are so blessed to call "home" both the United States and Colombia. All the images on this website are ones I have taken of these sacred and beautiful places and spaces.
Welcome.
